If you’ve fallen in love with the beauty of waldorf education, the artistry, the main lessons, the focus on letting children be children, the way that topics are introduced, a slower deliberate introduction to academics, but had a hard time with the anthroposophy that comes with it, I got you.
I have a blog post that highlights the main differences between our Sacred by the Sea Waldorf Academy and traditional Waldorf Curricula, so I won’t go into all of that here, but you can read all about it by clicking here.
On this lading page, I want to show you what is coming up for The Academy so you know what to expect. There will be four books released as follows :
- Gentle Tide [previously I called it Seatide – it has been renamed] which is for grades 1-4. Dip those toes in the gentle tide and enjoy learning with your imagination and childhood unfettered.
- Seabird is for grades 5-8 where your child will learn to stretch those wings and begin to fly.
- Surfhouse is for grades 9-12. That short period of time before adulthood. “You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf,” Jon Kabat-Zinn
- Abide : Sanctus Fidelis – This will be a Catholic Faith book for all grades with the same waldorf schooling block format so that you can simply add it on for a diving deep focus on our Christian faith. Included in that will also be daily morning prayer time for the whole family, and creating a fulfilling but simple liturgical family life.
Initially I had thought I would also create a PreK/Kinder program, but I just don’t think it fits with the waldorf formula for academics.Grade one starts at age 7 or possibly age 6. The method of waldorf education is teaching to the whole person of your child and not just the head [academics]. There is a strong spiritual emphasis for those of us that are Christian and it takes a Christian worldview.
People from all religions use Waldorf Education but the anthroposophy often rubs against Christian faith in some areas, so we have addressed that here without taking away the fun, creative, beneficial aspects.
Below are the projected book covers for those three volumes. Release dates have not been officially set, but those are coming. It is possible the high school book, Surfhouse, will be released first since these are the grades in most need of parent friendly waldorf curricula. Each volume is a square 8.5″ x 8.5″ book that will have the option of being spiral bound or hardcover. Choose whichever is your favorite option. They will be printed in color and have photos of the main lesson books for the week so you know exactly what to do and don’t have to try to figure out what you should be illustrating in them. There will also be a digital option!
More details will be added soon to this page!
